Curt and I started thinking about Disneyland about a month ago, thinking that it would be fun to take Madi there on her Birthday. This year Disneyland is promoting that you get in free on your birthday, we thought we should take advantage of this awesome deal, since it costs a ton to go there. Madi's birthday is on Valentines day(lucky her), and it just happened to fall on a Saturday, which is so cool because the park was opened from 8am to midnight!
We decided that we wanted to make this trip a surprise(I just love surprises, hint, hint:) so we didn't tell them, we just told Madi that we will be hanging out as a family on her birthday and that she can have a few friends over the following weekend. Curt and I went to the Disney store to buy some shirts to go along with the surprise. Friday morning the kids woke up and went downstairs for some breakfast that daddy was making and saw the shirts on the couch and asked why they were there. Curt then said, "I have a question for you guys, would you rather go to school today or would you rather go to Disneyland"? Luke asked if we were serious(I guess we joke around a lot with them, it's mainly my husband that teases), and Curt said yes, they went crazy! They jumped up and down and got the biggest smiles across their sweet faces.
We already had the suitcases packed and we were ready to go. We drove straight to Newport beach, and we lasted about 30 minutes before the rain came. The funny thing about that is I made Curt pull out our chairs and set them up only to be able to sit in them in less than 2 minutes before the rain came down hard! The kids did manage to collect a few shells and get their pants wet in the short time we were there!
The first ride of the day was Teacups, Madi picked that ride out and since it was her Birthday she got her way( I can't stand that ride, it makes me sick)! We played hard that day, got in most of the rides, all of us even rode Space Mountain together, they didn't get scared at all! Max fell asleep standing in line for the Peter Pan ride a little after 8pm. We watched the fireworks and he woke up towards the end of them, I asked Madi and Max if they wanted to go on anymore rides and they both said that they were tired and wanted to go to sleep. I took them back to the hotel, and Curt and Luke stayed to ride Indiana Jones twice and eat some icecream! They didn't get back until 12:30 am! It was a great weekend and it was so much fun, I hope that Madi will never forget this birthday. Happy Birthday sweetie, we love you!
